Seahawk Doodles – Also Known As Snicker Doodles, Cookies for Game Day

These cookies may not ensure a win for the Seahawks today – but they sure can’t hurt!  Straight from the 1950 Betty Crocker New Picture Cookbook – which is becoming more scarce and hard-to-find every year.

Snicker Doodles
1 C soft shortening (I sub with unsalted butter)
1 1/2 C sugar
2 eggs
2 3/4 C Flour
2 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp soda
1/4 tsp salt
Heat oven to 400.   Mix shortening, sugar and eggs thoroughly.  Measure flour by dip-level-pour method or by sifting.   Blend all dry ingredients.   Stir in.  Roll into balls the size of small walnuts.  Roll in mixture of 2 tbsp sugar and 2 tsp cinnamon.   Place 2″ apart on ungreased baking sheet.  Bake 8-10 minutes.   These puff up, and then flatten out.
